Our History
The project was originally created as banner.tf by the developers at Modest Labs, the team behind SocialBlade. However, it grew outdated over time. We took over the project from them, rebranded it to banner.yt, and completely rewrote the platform from the ground up to be faster, more reliable, and packed with new features. It is now completely independent.
Our Technology
banner.yt is built on Next.js with Redis used for lightweight metadata, analytics, and sitemap discovery. Images are processed through Sharp with strict memory limits and output as WebP by default for much smaller files than traditional JPEG.
How It Works
When you request a banner, we fetch it from YouTube's servers, compress it into your chosen format, and serve it with aggressive browser/CDN caching headers. Large generated image blobs are not stored in Redis by default, which keeps the service stable under heavy traffic.
Fair Use
banner.yt is free for personal and commercial use. We ask that you respect our rate limits (10 requests per 30 seconds) and don't abuse the service. If you need higher limits, contact us.
